- Join the Project

Once you decide to join, you'll need to have your DNA tested. The
company
that is providing this service for our project is Family
Tree DNA. Click on
Join The
Project! at left for more information, or go directly to the order
form online (For the 'Type of Test:', select Y-DNA37,
Y-DNA25, or Y-DNA12.)
- The Test Kit

After you join, Family Tree DNA will send you a test
kit. It consists of two cheek scrapers and two collection
tubes--designed for a single person's use. You will use the scraper to
rub the inside of your cheek, then you'll deposit the tip into the
tube. Repeat with the other scraper and tube. The sensation is much
like brushing the inside of your cheek with your toothbrush, and is
painless.
- The Results

Once you've collected the sample, you'll mail the two tubes back to
Family Tree DNA, who will perform the Y-DNA test. Once completed, your
results will be mailed to you, and they will also be made available to
you online via their secure login. The results (i.e., the marker
values) will also be posted on this site on the Test Results page, but
rest assured no personal, identifying info will be posted.
